Wrap Gifts Like a Professional

Hand wrapping adds that extra touch to any gift, and if you want your wrapping to look like the pros, these are The Butler’s four tips for perfect wrapping… plus one extra for finishing with a personal flair.

  • Cut the paper to the perfect size. It should wrap all the way around with a 2cm overlap, and come up a little more than halfway on each side.
  • Be strategic with your tape, and don’t be afraid to use two or three small pieces rather than long pieces. You can also use double sided tape for flat and clean edges.
  • When folding the ends of the gift, always have the bottom facing up, and fold the top edge down first. Use the edge of the gift to help guide the paper to a clean seam.
  • Finish with ribbon or coloured twine, and attach the gift card to the top middle, just before tying the bow.
  • To add that personal touch. Make your own gift tag, create the paper by painting or printing on plain Kraft paper, or even create a final touch from flowers, striking leaves or something you know the person will love.
